Director, Video Editor
Iranian-born, Somayeh is a freelance director and editor based in London. She graduated from Royal Holloway University of London, where she studied Media Arts and later completed an MA in Documentary. Since then, she has worked as a commercial director and editor for clients such as Facebook, Braun, Land Rover, LUSH, Nike and Pepsi, to name a few.
Narratively, her Ridley Scott–produced short film, Skin of Water | پوست آب, was nominated for Best UK Short at the BAFTA/BIFA-qualifying Raindance Film Festival 2024, and has since received international recognition.
Somayeh combines her eye for the cinematic moment with her documentary experience and personal interest. Her personal history is often layered into her work, sometimes raw, often poetic. She speaks Farsi fluently and can understand quite a bit of Azari.
